APOD Journey is developed and maintained by Simão Samouco, a solo independent developer. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the app and how it is used.

1. Information We Collect

APOD Journey does not collect or store any personally identifiable information. The app:

• Makes network requests to NASA's public APOD API to retrieve astronomy images and descriptions.
• Stores your saved APODs and preferences locally on your device only.
• Schedules local notifications on your device if you choose to set reminders. These notifications never leave your device.

2. Third-Party Services

The app integrates the following third-party services:

• NASA APOD API — used to fetch the Astronomy Picture of the Day. Requests include an API key but no personal data. See NASA's API terms.
• Firebase Remote Config (Google) — used to remotely configure app settings such as the API key. No personal data is transmitted. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — used to collect anonymous crash reports to help us improve app stability. Reports may include device model, OS version, and stack traces, but never any personally identifiable information. See Google's Privacy Policy.

3. Data Storage

All user data (saved APODs, app preferences, reminder settings) is stored exclusively on your device using iOS local storage. We do not operate servers that store your personal data.

4. GDPR (European Union Users)

As a developer based in the European Union, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Under GDPR you have the right to:

• Access any personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your data.
• Object to the processing of your data.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Since APOD Journey does not collect personally identifiable information, the data processed by third-party services (Firebase) is limited to anonymous crash diagnostics and remote configuration. You may opt out of crash reporting by uninstalling the app.

5. Children's Privacy

APOD Journey is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
